Introducing the Affordable 2024 BMW iX2 eDrive20: Expanding Electric SUV Offerings in Europe
BMW enthusiasts, brace yourselves for an electrifying addition to the renowned lineup as the German automaker unveils the latest iteration of its electric SUV range – the base 2024 BMW iX2 eDrive20. Alongside the anticipated facelifted 4-Series Coupe and Convertible, BMW introduces this entry-level variant, promising a blend of affordability and eco-conscious performance for European markets.
Set to hit the streets in March, the iX2 eDrive20 arrives with a price tag starting from £50,710 ($64,280) in the UK, positioning itself as a budget-friendly alternative to its counterparts. Offering a cost-saving opportunity of £6,735 ($8,537) compared to the iX2 xDrive30, this newcomer opens doors for more drivers to experience the thrill of electric driving without breaking the bank.
Under the hood, the iX2 eDrive20 packs a punch with a single electric motor delivering 204 hp to the front wheels. While it may not be a speed demon, this electric SUV boasts impressive acceleration, clocking 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 8.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h). Equipped with a 64.8 kWh battery pack, this variant extends its range by an additional 18 miles (29 km), offering a commendable 297 miles (478 km) of driving range on a single charge.
Charging convenience is key, and the iX2 eDrive20 delivers with support for both AC and DC charging. With capabilities of up to 130 kW for DC charging, drivers can enjoy an additional 75 miles (120 km) of range with just a 10-minute charge, ensuring seamless journeys without the hassle of lengthy pit stops.
While detailed specifications are yet to be unveiled by BMW, enthusiasts can expect the iX2 eDrive20 to inherit key features from its counterpart, the iX1 eDrive20. From a sleek 10.7-inch digital instrument cluster to a user-friendly 10.25-inch infotainment display, the iX2 promises a seamless blend of innovation and sophistication.
Joining the iX2 on the launch stage is the X2 xDrive20d, marking the introduction of the second diesel model in the X2 range. Powered by a robust 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine supplemented by an electric motor, this dynamic duo delivers a combined output of 163 hp and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque, ensuring a thrilling driving experience with every journey.
As a nod to customization, BMW enthusiasts will have access to an expanded range of exterior paint finishes for the X2 and iX2 models, including the eye-catching Frozen Black Metallic, starting March.
With the introduction of the base 2024 BMW iX2 eDrive20, BMW continues to redefine the boundaries of electric mobility, offering a compelling blend of performance, affordability, and sustainability for drivers across Europe. As anticipation builds for its arrival, the iX2 eDrive20 stands poised to make a lasting impression on the electric SUV landscape, paving the way for a greener future on the roads.
